ICC T20 International Ranking: Pakistan on top, India on 5th place

International Cricket Council (ICC) released the T20 International Rankings for teams. While the Pakistan top the listt, he Indian cricket team, led by Virat Kohli, has dropped down three places to be placed at the 5th spot.

The annual rankings update took into consideration results from 2016-17. India’s acrh rival Pakistan, who had won the T20 World Cup in 2009, remain the top side with 286 points while South Africa (262), England (261), Australia (261) and India (260) follow them to complete the top 5. Among the other big changes in the standings, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka find themselves 7th and 8th respectively while West Indies are positioned 9th. Nepal and Namibia are some of the unknown teams who have taken giant strides forward as they are positioned at 11th and 20th spot respectively. The other team which featured in the list are Austria, Botswana, Luxembourg and Mozambique.

The expanded annual rankings were released by the ICC on Friday with 80 teams who have been recognised by the apex board in the shortest format of the game. Before the expanded table was released, the Proteas were positioned fifth while India was on the second spot.
