ICC Test players' rankings renewed! Virat suffered, Jaddu regains respect

New Delhi: Team India batsmen performed disappointingly in the first Test against England last week. Skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Rishabh Pant have borne the brunt of their poor performance by losing points in the latest ongoing Test rankings of ICC. Team India captain Virat Kohli has now slipped to the fifth position. However, bowler Jasprit Bumrah has benefited from good bowling.

Jasprit Bumrah has made it back to the top 10 in the bowling rankings. Bumrah, who reached the third-highest career ranking in September 2019, took nine wickets for 110 runs in a Test match in Nottingham. This has put him 10 places to ninth in the list of bowlers. Kohli had returned to the pavilion on zero in the only innings of the first Test, bringing him down one notch to fifth in the batting rankings. English captain Joe Root replaces him in fourth place. He won the Man of the Match award by playing innings of 49 and 109 runs. This gave him 49 rating points.

Team India's opening batsman Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant remain at the sixth and seventh positions respectively as before. However, both players have lost points. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has moved up three places to 36th in the batting rankings, while KL Rahul has returned to the Test rankings at 56th position with innings of 84 and 26 runs. Ravindra Jadeja is second in the all-rounders' ranking list with a gain of one place. India's senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is fourth on the list. Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan is again on the top of the all-rounder's list in the T20 rankings.
