NEW DELHI: Mansukh Mandaviya, the union health minister, said on Thursday that the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) symbolises reliability and assured presence and is associated with hope for people. He also issued a warning that the IRCS's relevance and identity would be lost if it does not adapt to the times. "IRCS needs to critically evaluate its strengths and shortcomings and create a plan of action for how it will reinvent itself to accept the evolving role throughout time. While kicking off the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) states/UTs Leadership Meeting here, Mandaviya stated that this may call for a thorough examination of organisational and structural structures, discipline in the operation of the IRCS regional centres, transparency in appointments, better grievance redressal mechanisms, and better use of digital technology for people-centered activities, among other things. The two-day IRCS Chitan Shivir is being organised to talk about how to make IRCS work better. Participants in the meeting were state red cross chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and other dignitaries from IRCS. "Sewa and Sahyog are an essential component of our Sanskar and are part of our tradition. In his remarks at the opening session, the health minister continued, "These also underscore and define the slogan of Indian Red Cross Society, which is known for its work to help and aid humanity in times of need and emergencies. "We are always fascinated with the healthcare systems of other countries, but Covid highlighted the strength of our system and exposed the faults of even advanced countries," the Union Minister said when discussing the improvements in India's healthcare facilities. India not only ran Covid using effective regional models, but it also gave many other nations access to medicines and vaccinations through Vaccine Maitri. "It is admirable that our drugs didn't suffer from a lapse in quality or that we didn't take advantage of the circumstance by raising the price. This demonstrates our steadfast dedication to Vasudeva Kutumbakam's worldview, added Mandaviya. The participants were also asked for ideas by the Union minister on how to launch novel projects and broaden IRCS' operational scope.
