IDC says about the Hike in Indian Tablet Market in Shipments but Datawind Continues to Lead

According to a report, in the third quarter of 2016, there is a hike of tablet Shipments. These shipments grew up to 8% due to festive seasons. Datawind Company owns the maximum share in these increasing shipments which is 26.1 percent share with its volume growing 73 percent. These details are provided by International Data Corporation (IDC).

Samsung acquires the second place in this race with 26.2 percent growth and iBall acquire the third place with marginally by 2.9 percent. IBall showing decline about 7.5% year-on-year but iBall is leading in 4G tablet’s shipments in India.

"Lenovo stood at fourth place with 15.5 percent sequential growth and Micromax retained its place in top five, although its shipments remained flattish over the previous quarter and 39 percent year-on-year drop," IDC said in a statement.

"As a result, 2016 total tablet shipments is likely to decline marginally over 2015. Detachable are expected to continue with healthy shipments in the last quarter of this year to account for little over five per cent of total tablet shipments in 2016 as compared to 2.7 percent last year," said Navkendar Singh, Senior Research Manager, IDC India.

"Commercial segment continues to grow at a healthy pace accounting to over one-fifth of total tablet shipments in the third quarter of 2016 with key contributors being education, government and large enterprise segments," said Karthik J., Senior Market Analyst (Client Devices), IDC India.

But IDC also predicts the decline of tablet shipment in the fourth quarter because this hike is the result of festive season which is going to end. And some reports also says the decline is also fixed because of Demonetization.
