GUWAHATI: Officials said an Australian delegation led by Australia's High Commissioner in India, Barry O' Farrell, met with the Director and top officials of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, on Wednesday to explore many initiatives of mutual cooperation in several domains. Academics, scholarships, strategic research, trade and commerce, governance, disaster management, cultural interaction, water conservation, and clean energy were among the projects discussed by the Australian delegation, according to IIT sources. Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Director of IIT Guwahati, gave a presentation on the Australia India Water Centre, the Global Centre for Transdisciplinary Research in Water (Tri-Water), and various initiatives carried out under their auspices, including the development of the Master of Sustainable Water Futures programme and Water Matters for India - Delivering an Innovative Young Water Professional Training. He went on to say that such collaborations are critical for achieving sustainable development goals as well as addressing climate change's impending issues. He also emphasised the relevance of the liberal arts department while highlighting IIT Guwahati's tremendous advancements in worldwide rankings.
