Heavy rain in Kerala's district, fishermen advised not to go to sea

Kochi: The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for July 11 predicting very heavy rains in Kannur and Kasargod districts of Kerala. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued orange alert for Wayanad, Kozhikode and Malappuram districts and yellow warning for Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki and Ernakulam districts.

With this, IMD has issued orange alert for Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts on Saturday and yellow alert for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta districts. According to the IMD website, Kottayam received up to 15 cm of rainfall till 10 am on Saturday, while Thiruvananthapuram district received 1.7 cm and Ernakulam 10.7 cm. Rain has been recorded till now. The weather warning issued for fishermen and people living in coastal areas of Kerala from July 10 to July 13 said, "The coast of Kerala is getting strong wind speed of 40 to 50 kmph. Fishermen are advised not to go into the sea during this period.
