Imran Khan slams Pakistan govt over ongoing economic crisis

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of  PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf), Imran Khan has slammed the ruling govt of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for failing to address the nation's ongoing economic crisis.

Khan said that the Sharif family has never been capable of managing Pakistan's challenging economic position. He asserted that "the Sharif family never had any experience managing the economy."

Khan recalled his days in office and remarked, "The exchange rate of the rupee to the US dollar in April of this year was Rs 178. Despite the IMF (International Monetary Fund) accord, it is currently at Rs 224 and is falling rapidly. The financial crisis demonstrates that the Sharif family's only areas of skill are theft, money laundering, and obtaining NROs." "All those involved for the regime change scheme and bringing Pakistan to this deplorable state of affairs will be held accountable by the nation," he continued.

Khan made his statement at a time when the Pakistani rupee is sharply depreciating against the dollar and the market has lost more than 1,500 points during the past two trading days.

The business community has severe concerns due to the country's ongoing political unpredictability and an unstable government that appears unsure of its ability to hold onto power.

The economic growth of the nation was downgraded from "stable" to "negative" by Fitch Ratings as a result of the collapse of the Pakistani rupee versus the dollar.
