Ramallah; During an operation in a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank on Friday, Israeli forces fatally shot a Palestinian man, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA. The Israeli military and the Palestinian Health Ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Doctor Amin Khader, director of the Thabet Thabet Government Hospital in Tulkarm, told Palestine TV that the Palestinian man who died had a gunshot wound to the chest, and that there were at least eight other casualties. The deceased person was identified as Mahmoud Jarrad by the Fatah party, which controls the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. He was identified as a member but not as a fighter. According to a UN count, fighting has claimed the lives of at least 196 Palestinians and 24 Israeli citizens since January.
