INDIA Aus-3rd Test: umesh Yadav takes 3 on spin-friendly track

INDORE: Umesh Yadav scalped 3 batters as India bowled out Australia for 197 in their first innings on the second day morning Thursday of the third Test at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

On a challenging track that received criticism for offering quick spin in the opening hour of the game, Australia had taken a crucial 88-run first innings lead.

For the visitors, Usman Khawaja top-scored with a 147-ball 60, and Marnus Labuschagne added 31.

For India, Umesh Yadav (3/12) and Ravichandran Ashwin (3/44) each claimed three wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja (4/78) amassed four. The beleaguered Aussies will miss the services of their regular Test skipper Pat Cummins, who has returned to Sydney. Former captain Steve Smith will be leading the side for the 3rd Test in Indore. Rohit also has a lot on his platter and will need to decide whether he wants to stick with KL Rahul as opener or bring in Shubman Gill at the top.

India 1st Innings Brief Score: 109 all out in 33.2 overs (Virat Kohli 22; Matthew Kuhnemann 5/16, Nathan Lyon 3/35).

Australia 1st Innings: 197 all out in 76.3 overs (Usman Khawaja 60, Marnus Labuschagne 31; Ravindra Jadeja 4/78, Umesh Yadav 3/12, Ravichandran Ashwin 3/44).

Indian batters' struggle with spin was exposed once again as they got bowled out for 109 with left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann picking his maiden five-wicket haul in just his second Test for Australia.
