India Corona: 18 thousand new cases reported in last 24 hours

New Delhi: In the last 24 hours in India, 18,087 cases of Coronavirus infection have been reported, after which the total number of cases has reached 1,03,74,932. Meanwhile, there have been 264 deaths reported in the country, after which the death toll has reached 1,50,114. The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry released figures in this regard on Wednesday.

Coronavirus infection has been reported below 20,000 for the fifth consecutive day in India. So far, 99,97,272 patients in the country have been cured of this disease. Presently 2,27,546 patients are undergoing treatment. The recovery rate is 96.36% while the death rate is 1.45%. Maharashtra remains the most affected state till date. Out of the new cases, 84% of daily new cases are being recorded from 10 states - Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.

With the approval of two vaccines, a large scale vaccination campaign is going to start in the country soon. The central government has planned to vaccinate about 300 million people in the first phase, including 10 million healthcare workers, 20 million frontline workers and 27 million elderly. In India, the number of infected people reached 20 lakh on 7 August, 30 lakh on 23 August and 40 lakh on 5 September.
