India Covid Overview: 40,134 new COVID cases, 422 deaths

India registered 40,134 fresh cases of Covid-19, along with 422 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. As per the Union Health Ministry data released on Monday, the India witnessed a total of 36,946 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 3,08,57,467. The active cases of COVID-19 in India are now at 4,13,718, the data showed. The total death toll in the country is now at 4,24,773.

IN the vaccine accounts, it is reported that a total of 47,22,23,639 vaccines have been administered so far across the country. India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7 last year, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19 last year.

Global Corona updates: The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 34,997,105 and 613,223, respectively, according to the CSSE. The other worst countries with over 3 million cases are Brazil (19,938,358), France (6,209,934), Russia (6,207,513), the UK (5,907,594), Turkey (5,747,935), Argentina (4,935,847), Colombia (4,794,414), Spain (4,447,044), Italy (4,350,028), Iran (3,871,008), Germany (3,778,277) and Indonesia (3,440,396), the CSSE figures showed.
