India International Science Festival (IISF) 2020 is planned to be organized from 22 December through virtual platforms. IISF will be the largest science festival to be held on virtual platform. The central theme of this year’s festival is “Science for Self-reliant India and Global Welfare”. The festival begins on 22nd December, which falls on the birthday of Srinivas Ramanujam, the world renowned Indian mathematician and culminates on 25th December, the birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was a firm believer of development through Science & Technology. Dr. Shekhar C. Mande Secretary, DSIR and Director General, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research has said, the objective of IISF is to induce the person about different facets of science and technology. Dr Ranjana Aggarwal, Director, CSIR-National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS) said at a time when life seems to have come to a stop due to the pandemic, it is science and technology that is keeping the spirits high. One such live example is India International Science Festival (IISF) 2020 where science can be experienced virtually. The nodal institution for the IISF 2020 is CSIR-NISTADS, New Delhi. This Science Festival is jointly organised by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and Department of Biotechnology (DBT) from the Government of India and VijnanaBharati (VIBHA) as well as with support of a large number of other organisations.
