New Delhi: The Indian Council of Medical Research on Saturday said That India has set a new record of conducting 400 million corona tests in the month of June with an average of more than 18 lakh tests per day. India has tested 40,18,11,892 samples across India till Friday. ANI (@ANI) June 26, 2021 Earlier, India conducted 1 crore corona tests on 7th July last year. This was followed by 10 crores corona tests on 23rd October, 20 crores on 6th February, 25 crores on 6th April, 30 crores on 8th May, and 35 crores on 1st June. ICMR said 17,45,809 samples were tested for corona infection in the country on Friday. In a statement, he said, it has been strengthened by increasing the speed-speed test infrastructure and capacity across the country. Prof. Balram Bhargava, Director General, ICMR said that the rapid increase in tests has also significantly reduced the number of deaths due to early detection of corona cases, prompt isolation, and effective treatment. He said India has been able to efficiently implement test, track, trace, treat and technology strategies, which will strengthen us in preventing the spread of this corona infection. ICMR informed that the total number of laboratories in the country has reached 2,675, out of which the number of Government laboratories is 1,676 and the number of private laboratories is 999.
