Crude oil crosses $70 barrel: petrol-diesel prices stabilize in India

New Delhi: Benchmark crude oil (Brent Crude) has again crossed $70 a barrel on Monday. Expectations of rising international oil demand continue to accelerate prices. Crude oil prices have risen by over 11 percent in the past fortnight, but petrol-diesel prices in India have remained stable.

Oil marketing companies did not revise petrol-diesel prices on the 16th day on Monday. According to the Indian Oil website, petrol prices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai remained steady at Rs 91.17, Rs 91.35, Rs 97.57 at Rs 93.11 per litre respectively. Diesel prices are also steady at Rs 81.47, Rs 84.35, Rs 88.60, Rs 86.45 per litre in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai respectively.

Brent crude's May delivery contract on the International Futures Market Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) rose 0.85 percent from the previous session on Monday to trade at $69.81 a barrel, while Brent crude climbed to $70.02 a barrel during earlier trading. WTI's April contract on the New York Merce Tile Exchange (Naimax) was up 0.94 percent from the last session at $66.41 a barrel.
