While completely rejecting the US official's claim on the Doklam issue, Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh on Thursday said that there were no new developments in Dokalam and the place around Dokalam and surrounding areas. Singh gave this information in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. He said, "On August 28, 2017, after the removal of Indian and Chinese Border Security Forces in Dokalam area, there is no new incident in the area at and around the disputed site. The situation in that area remains intact." He said that keeping sustained high-level exchange with China, the Government has conveyed that keeping peace in border areas of India and China is an important prerequisite for maintaining bilateral relations smoothly. He said that the government constantly monitors all the developments affecting the security of India and takes all necessary measures to protect it. Also, India and China are working on the goal of $ 100 billion bilateral trade by 2022. He said without mentioning the US that due to the big powers trying to suppress the developing countries, there are possibilities of greater cooperation between India and China. India and China faced a 73-day-long standoff in Doklam, from June 16 last year, Likewise, Bhutan and China had a heated discussion over Doklam.
