India and Sri Lanka have joined hands to promote Buddhism. India has announced a $15 million assistance to Sri Lanka to strengthen the Buddhist relations between the two countries. A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that during the discussion, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Rajapaksa made a special mention of the cultural centre built with India's assistance in Jaffna.
