Abu Dhabi: Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Housing and Urban Affairs, stated at an event here that India will have "huge extra" territories for oil exploration and production by 2025. Hardeep Puri stated after opening the India pavilion at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) on Monday, "As far as the government of India is concerned, we are going to step on the accelerator in terms of exploration and production in a very large scale." India plans to expand its oil and gas exploration area in the country's northeast. "We will raise the area under E and P (exploration and production) in the northeast from 30,000 square kilometres to 60,000 square kilometres," he stated. India wants to extend its gas pipeline network to 34,000 kilometres, according to the ministry. "This entails a USD60 billion investment in gas pipeline infrastructure alone, expanding refining capacity from 250 million to 400 million metric tonnes per year by 2030 and increasing the gas mix from 6 percent to 15 percent," he said.
