Batting first after losing the toss, Team India has scored a total of 340 runs losing 6 wickets in 50 overs and gave Australia a target of 341 runs to win. Shikhar Dhawan scored the highest 96 runs for Team India, while KL Rahul played an 80-run inning.

Captain Virat Kohli scored a brilliant 78. Adam Zampa took 3 wickets from Australia while Kane Richardson got 2 wickets. This gave India a start by the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Both partnered 81 runs for the first wicket. In the 14th over, Australian bowler Adam Zampa gave India the first blow. Adam trapped Rohit and sent him to the pavilion. Rohit was dismissed by 42 runs.
