New Delhi: Indian Army is preparing to start a program called 'Tour of Duty'. The aim is to give the common people a chance to serve in the army. If this proposal was approved then the common people would also be able to work in the army for 3 years. On Wednesday, Army Chief General MM Narwane said that the idea of recruiting the army to the general public came when he visited colleges and universities and found that the youth of the country are always eager to experience the life of the army. He said, "When our officers talked to the youth in colleges, it was felt that the students want to experience the life of the army but not as a career." Army Chief said that this gave us a thought in our mind why not give the youth a chance to serve their country for two-three years. India will benefit immensely by inducting the country's best talent in the army. It will also discipline and benefit society. The proposed model of Tour of Duty (TOD), suitable for senior officers in the Army, will be implemented on a trial basis for officers and other ranks in the Army in limited numbers. The success of the model will be increased by increasing the vacancy. In addition, this proposal will also be converted into a three-year Armed Forces internship as a permanent job.
