Indian Cricket Team Lands in Delhi, Set to Meet PM Modi Post World Cup Victory

The Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, arrived in Delhi on July 4 with the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 trophy, having won the final in Barbados on June 29. The team is currently at ITC Maurya Hotel, where a special breakfast has been prepared for them. They are soon scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Fans gathered outside Delhi airport and ITC Maurya Hotel to catch a glimpse of their favorite cricketers, cheering "India, India" as the team arrived from the Caribbean.

The players, coaches, support staff, and other members were originally set to travel from Barbados to the USA and then to India via the UAE. However, their plans were delayed due to Hurricane Beryl, which put Barbados on high alert from June 30.

After a two-day delay, the BCCI arranged a chartered flight to bring the entire team and their families back to India. Media professionals stranded in Barbados were also offered seats on this special flight from Barbados to Delhi.

Reports indicate that PM Modi is expected to meet with the World Cup winners around 11 am in Delhi. On June 29, India triumphed over Aiden Markram-led South Africa by seven runs in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 finals.
