Losing game won! When Dinesh Karthik found ways of adapting MS Dhoni style

Today is a very special day for the Indian cricket team as wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik is celebrating his 36th birthday today. Born in Chennai on June 1, 1985, Karthik made it to the Indian team in 2004, but his place has never been firm in the team. Karthik has also been a member of the world winning team that first captured the award by defeating Pakistan in the 2007 T20 World Cup. His memorable moments include the 34-run innings against Bangladesh in the final of the Nidahas Trophy in 2018 when he hit a six like former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to lead the team to the title.

Karthik scored 29 off 8 balls in the match played in Colombo. India needed 34 runs in the last two overs in the final. Karthik hit 22 runs in the 19th over. India needed five runs off the final ball and that bowling was being bowled by Bangladesh part-time bowler Soumya Sarkar. Karthik hit a six over extra cover off the last ball here to give India a historic victory. With the team winning in this way, the fans started calling him Mr Finisher after Dhoni.

Karthik had later said about the match, 'First I was ready to bat at No.5, but captain Rohit Sharma said that He would go to bat at No.6. So I was happy with it too. I was absolutely confident that I would go to bat at No.6 When I lost the fourth wicket, I was ready to bat, but that's when Rohit said vijay shankar should go to bat." He said 'SoI was very sad and angry at that time. But obviously you can't question the captain.'
