External Affairs Ministry Responds On British PM Boris Johnson Visit

New Delhi: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has said that British PM Boris Johnson is looking forward to visiting the British PM next month as the chief guest on Republic Day in January 2021. Earlier, there were reports that Boris Johnson's visit to New Delhi may not have been possible in view of the outbreak of a new coronavirus strain in the UK.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said, "We have invited BRITISH PM Boris Johnson as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations in 2021." Recently, when British Foreign Minister Dominic Rab visited India, he publicly spoke of our acceptance of the invitation.  Therefore, we look forward to welcoming the British Prime Minister here.

British PM Boris Johnson's visit to India seemed to be speculation because Boris Johnson is facing a lot of ups and downs in his country during the Corona crisis. Corona restrictions have been imposed in many parts of the United Kingdom ahead of Christmas and New Year. Yet, the new corona strain has not been prevented from spreading rapidly.
