New Delhi: Various efforts are being made by the Railways to control the unruly crowd during the festive season. In this episode, the Railways has given a big blow to the festival on the spot by increasing the platform ticket. The Central Railway has increased the prices of platform tickets at major stations of Mumbai to control the increasing rush of passengers. The price of these tickets has been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 50. However, this increase has been made temporarily from October 22 to October 31. The increased ticket rates will be applicable only at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Kalyan and Panvel stations. Earlier, the Southern Railway had also increased the platform ticket. This increase in fare was done at 8 major stations of Chennai division. These stations include Chennai Central, Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Katpadi, Changalpattu, Arakkonam, Tiruvallur and Avadi. The increased new prices of platform tickets will be applicable from October 1 to January 31, 2023. Apart from this, in view of the crowd gathering on the festival in Andhra Pradesh too, the platform at Vijayawada station was increased from Rs 10 to Rs 30. At the same time, in Kacheguda, Telangana, the platform ticket price was increased from Rs 10 to Rs 20 for the same reason. This type of temporary increase in platform tickets has been done many times in the last 2 years also.
