MUSCAT: The fifth edition of the India-Oman Joint Military Exercise, named Al Najah, wrapped up on September 26 with a significant closing ceremony at the Rabkoot Training Area in Oman.
The India-Oman joint military exercise, AL-NAJAH 5 – 2024, was going onat the Rabkoot Training Area in Oman. The exercise, which began on 13th September, continued until 26th September. The Indian Army contingent, comprising 60 personnel, was represented by a battalion of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment, along with personnel from other arms and services.
Dignitaries in attendance included Amit Narang, the Indian Ambassador to Oman, and Captain Harish Srinivasan, the Indian Defence Attache. From Oman, Brigadier General Abdulkadhim Bin Ibrahim Al-Ajmi, the Commander of the 11th Infantry Brigade, and Lieutenant Colonel Masood Mubarak Al-Ghafri, Commanding Officer of the Frontier Force, were also present, as noted in an official release from the Ministry of Defence.
The ceremony featured an impressive live-fire demonstration, showcasing the collaboration and joint capabilities of both the Indian Army and the Royal Army of Oman. This event was essential for illustrating how the two forces could work together in peacekeeping operations under a United Nations mandate. Around 60 soldiers from both armies participated in this critical display of military cooperation.
The demonstration included various tactical exercises, such as simulating the isolation and clearing of a village in a desert setting. Joint forces, consisting of Indian and Omani Armoured Personnel Carrier troops, conducted house clearance drills and hostage rescue missions.
Snipers from both nations also showcased their precision shooting skills by effectively hitting targets throughout the exercise.
A standout feature of the event was the use of advanced Indian-made technology, including drones for real-time surveillance and ballistic shields for room interventions and hostage protection. These innovations highlight the commitment of both countries to improve their military capabilities and readiness.
The exercise concluded with a flag ceremony, an exhibition of equipment, and friendly exchanges between the participating forces. The successful completion of this joint exercise demonstrates the commitment of India and Oman to fostering global peace and security.
This event not only enhanced the tactical skills of the troops involved but also fortified the military relations between India and Oman.
