New Delhi: Today is the birthday of the country's new Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Vaishnav, who became a cabinet minister for the first time, took over as the new Railway Minister in PM Narendra Modi's cabinet on July 8. He has an MBA from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and M.Tech from IIT Kanpur. Ashwani Vaishnav has served as district collector in the Balasore and Cuttack districts of Odisha. As a district collector, the National Human Rights Commission had praised him for his work in his district. Vaishnav, a former IAS officer of the 1994 batch, held important responsibilities for more than 15 years. They are particularly known for their contribution to designing public-private partnerships (PPP) in infrastructure, which will also help them in the railway sector.
