New Delhi: Pakistan once again raised the issue of Kashmir in the United Nations (UN), and India gave a befitting reply to it. In the United Nations (UN) meeting held on Wednesday, Pakistan also raised the issue of life imprisonment to the chief of the banned organization Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Yasin Malik. Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Munir Akram, accused the Indian government of persecution of Kashmiris. He said an Indian court has sentenced Yasin to life imprisonment on false terrorism charges. Reacting to Pakistan's diplomat's statement, India's representative to the UN Vidisha Maitra said that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. He asked Pakistan to immediately rein in terrorism. Vidisha Maitra vehemently denied every allegation by Pakistan at the UN. Pakistan's representative Qasim Aziz Butt refuted India's claim, saying Kashmir is a disputed territory. He also referred to several other resolutions, including UN Preamble No. 47 of 1948. He said India is obliged to abide by these resolutions, as per Article 25 of the UN Charter. Butt said that only those occupying an area will oppose the UN's proposals. Butt alleged that India is the largest country to promote terrorism. "In today's intolerant India, 20 crore minority Muslims are being lynched through cow vigilantes in connivance with the RSS. Such discriminatory citizenship laws are being enacted, from which Muslims are being excluded. Campaigns are being carried out to destroy mosques and India's rich Muslim heritage.''
