New Delhi: Private airline company IndiGo has said that it has resumed more than 650 flights a week to the cities of Uttar Pradesh. The company said that flights from four cities of Uttar Pradesh ie. Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur, have started operations. IndiGo said that the airline company saw tremendous demand for air travel from Lucknow, which is directly connected to 13 destinations in the country. It also includes the names of Indore and Raipur, where direct flights have started recently. It is noteworthy that the number of domestic passengers has reduced by 57.21% to 52.71 lakh in October from a year ago. Airlines are operating far below their capacity during the global pandemic coronavirus, causing a significant drop in the number of aircraft passengers. The number of domestic aircraft passengers was 1.23 crore in October 2019. However, some improvement has been recorded in October due to increased demand after removing the lockdown in booking at Passenger Load Factor (PLF). DGCA has said that PLF has also improved due to the festive season. The average PLF of nine domestic airlines is 59.2% in October. Star Air's PLF is best recorded at 71.6%. Public sector helicopter company Pawan Hans had the lowest PLF of 21.9%. In October, the public sector airline Air India carried 4.94 lakh passengers.
