INDORE: Today marks a momentous occasion as Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to inaugurate the trial run of the Indore Metro Train at 4 pm. The trial run will commence from the Gandhi Nagar Metro Depot, and this historic event is expected to draw not only politicians and senior officials but also thousands of enthusiastic citizens. Urban development and housing minister Bhupendra Singh will grace the occasion as the special guest. The preparations for this grand event are nearing completion, with a series of meetings held between Metro officials and the district administration. On Friday, MPMRCL Managing Director Manish Singh, along with Collector Ilayaraja T and other Metro officials, inspected various Metro stations, the depot, and other crucial sites. A designated venue outside the Gandhi Nagar Metro Station area has been readied, where Chief Minister Chouhan will address the assembled crowd. There is also anticipation that Chief Minister Chouhan will inaugurate the International Swimming Pool of IDA later in the evening. INDORE METRO RAIL PROJECT UNVEILED The Indore Metro envisions a master plan encompassing 94 kilometers of routes, featuring four metro lines and two spurs that will crisscross the city. Phase 1 of this ambitious project focuses on the implementation of Line-3, a ring line. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project, covering 33.53 kilometers of routes, gained approval from the state government in December 2016 and received the green light from the Central Government's cabinet in October 2018. The deadline for completing Phase-1 of the Indore Metro is set for August 2023.
