It may be recalled that the incident came into the limelight when a video went viral on social media platforms showing bangle vendor Taslim Ali being beaten up by people. One person in the video was beating Taslim and instigating others to do the same. The video was lashed out by a section of the netizens. Later, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra had said that two Aadhaar cards were recovered from Taslim and he was selling bangles hiding his identity. In the case, the 13-year-old minor had said in his complaint that Taslim Ali had come to his house as Golu on August 22 and molested her.

The minor girl had said that Taslim hid her identity to sell bangles to her and showed her 'half burnt' Aadhaar card and gave his name as Golu. The girl said, "He came to our house at around 2 pm on Sunday when my father was outside. We started buying bangles from him. As soon as my mother went to collect the money, the bangles-seller looked at me dirty and grabbed my hand and said, 'I will help you wear bangles.' He also touched my cheeks incorrectly.'' The girl said that when the accused touched her, she screamed and the victim's mother panicked and rushed to rescue her after which Ali allegedly threatened the girl and fled. Meanwhile, neighbors and locals grabbed him and started beating him.
