INDORE: Inmate participation in the International Yoga Day session at the Indore Central Jail in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday totaled over 2,400, including female convicts. On this occasion, Shankar Lalwani, a BJP member from the Indore district, also practised yoga with inmates of the Indore Central Jail. For the Jail inmates to practise yoga on this day, the jail administration made special preparations and called yoga teachers and doctors. Lalwani said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked for yoga to be practised by everyone around the world on International Yoga Day. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is a family) is the theme for this year. On Yoga Day in New York today, Prime Minister Modi is leading the world. In addition to this, several significant events are being planned in numerous locations across the nation. Numerous programmes are being held in hundreds of locations throughout Indore as well. According to him, the inmates also practised yoga in the main jail. The MP said, "The prisoners are taught yoga in the jail, so it is important that the prisoners' mental and physical health should also be good." According to Dr. Alka Sonkar, the Central Jail's superintendent, "The inmates and staff were also made to practise the yoga in the Central Jail, much like it is being done around the world on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Yoga may help one stay healthy, thus it was practised to keep the convicts well. In the facility, yoga was practised by more than 2,400 detainees, including female inmates. The jail superintendent continued, "Separate arrangements were made for women in their ward for the Yoga programme." Narottam Mishra, the home minister for the state of Madhya Pradesh, joined convicts at the Bhopal Central Jail on Wednesday for a celebration of International Yoga Day. The world observes International Yoga Day on June 21 every year. It acts as a platform to promote yoga's comprehensive approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being and to spread awareness of the many advantages of the practise.
