Interfaith couple gets passport: Owaisi says, “BJP spreads communal poison”

 

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Jun 21 (NT): Following a communal row as a woman in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow, who earlier alleged that she was harassed by an Passport officer at a Lucknow, Owaisi said that since BJP came to power they've spread hatred and communal poison.

However the couple has now received passport.

Asaduddin Owaisi  who is an Indian politician and the President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen asserted, “Since BJP came to power they've spread hatred&communal poison against minorities,Muslims in particular&Dalits.Things have come to such stage that govt officer has audacity to question an adult's marriage,”.

Owaisi’s remark comes as inter-faith couple allegedly harassed at Lucknow passport office

The couple, Tanvi Seth and Mohammad Anas Siddiqui earlier claimed that they were being harassed by an officer at a Lucknow Passport Office, because Tanvi was married to a Muslim and had not changed her name.

 While passport officer gave his clarification and mentioned that name 'Shadia Anas' was on Tanvi Seth’s Nikahnama.

 “Asked Tanvi Seth to get the name'Shadia Anas' endorsed as it was mentioned on her Nikahnama,but she refused. We have to do thorough checks to ensure no person is changing their name to obtain a passport”, Vikas Mishra,officer who allegedly harassed Tanvi Seth at Lucknow Passport Office.

Tanvi Seth claimed that she was being harassed as the officer interrogated her marital status, asking her why she had not changed her name.
