International Kolkata Book Fair to be held from February 28

Kolkata: The inauguration session of the International Kolkata Book Fair (IKBF) 2022, which begins on February 28, will be attended by the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Bangladesh State Minister for Cultural Affairs, K M Khalid.

The Publishers and Booksellers Guild, the event's organisers, have opted to focus on Bangladesh during this edition of the book fair because it is the 50th anniversary of the country's liberation war, Guild general secretary Tridib Chatterjee said on Wednesday.

Selina Hossain, a well-known Bangladeshi writer, will also be present at the inauguration and will take part in a literary discussion during the book fair. The 13-day book festival will take place at Salt Lake City's Central Park grounds. Three of the book fair's gates, he said, will be replicas of three books written by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh's founding father.

A Satyajit Ray Gate will be dedicated to the maestro on his 100th birthday, and an Abanindranath Tagore Gate will be dedicated to the writer and artist Abanindranath Tagore. The International Kolkata Book Fair 2022 will feature twenty countries.
