Kolkata Knight Riders was led by Gautam Gambhir for the last six seasons and the team had bagged titles twice under his captaincy. For this season of the Indian Premier League, KKR has appointed Dinesh Karthik as the captain.
Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, has a special message for the new captain. SRK took to Twitter to welcome Karthik in the team.
“As we stand poised for a new season of KKR we welcome Dinesh Karthik as our Captain. Like our Captains over the years we know you will also lead us by boosting the self-esteem & dignity of all of us,” wrote SRK on twitter.
Karthik will lead Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2018 which has players like Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa. KKR also conducted polls on social media in this regard and the fans voted for Chris Lynn after former captain Gautam Gambhir has been bought by Delhi Daredevils for this season.
Karthik has helmed Tamil Nadu team in domestic tournaments and has proved his mettle as a captain. Karthik left Gujarat Lions after he was bought by KKR for Rs. 7.4 crore in January 2018 IPL auction. KKR assistant coach Simon Katich is all praise for the new skipper.
