Bad news for cricket lovers has come out in the morning, the third player ahead of the IPL 2021 edition has tested positive. Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Devdutt Padikkal has lately tested positive for novel coronavirus. Earlier the news came out of Kolkata Knight Riders player Nitish Rana who was the first one to test positive then Delhi Capitals' spinner Axar Patel also tested positive for the coronavirus. While Rana has recovered and joined the squad after two negative tests. DC’s Patel could miss the first game of the Capitals. According to the TOI, Padikkal is quarantined and the rest of the squad is also asked for self-isolation. Unfortunately, Padikkal is now facing a race against time to be fit for the opening match of the IPL 2021 edition. The 20-year-old batsman was terrific for his domestic side Karnataka in the recently-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. Subsequently, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is to host the second match of the IPL between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings. The stadium's 10 members of the ground staff have reported positive for COVID-19. However, the BCCI remains optimistic about holding the 10 IPL games in Mumbai between April 10-25 despite an enormous spike in COVID-19 cases in the city.
