IPL: Mohsin's final over display and Stoinis' unbeaten 89 keep LSG in the playoff hunt

LUCKNOW: Marcus Stoinis' unbroken 89 off 47 balls and Mohsin Khan's outstanding bowling performance in the last over helped Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeat Mumbai Indians (MI) by a narrow margin of 5 runs on Tuesday at the Ekana Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

With one league game remaining, Lucknow moved up to third place in the points standings with 15 points with this victory, putting them one step closer to securing a position in the playoffs.

Based on Marcus Stoinis' unbeaten 89 off 47 and captain Krunal Pandya's 49 off 42, LSG scored a respectable total of 177 runs.

MI responded quickly and effectively. A strong foundation was established by the opening 92-run stand between captain Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, who were accumulating runs quickly on a sluggish surface. Then, LSG flipped the script in the middle overs, and MI had trouble closing out their chase.

Tim David gave it his all to get them over the finish line, but he was unsuccessful as Mohsin successfully held off 10 runs in the final over to give his team two significant points.

As MI scored 58/0 in the Power-play while chasing 178, Ishan and Rohit gave the team a good start by hitting four maximums and three boundaries.

Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya did a fantastic job of controlling MI's run rate while Ishan was still playing his strokes, allowing LSG to into the match in 10-15 overs.
