In New Delhi today the Iraq Foreign Minister Dr Ibrahim al-Jaafari arrived who is on a five-day visit to India. Here he will meet the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at the Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan. At around 3 PM in the afternoon he will hold a meeting with Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan at Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shastri Bhawan. Today at the Maulana Azad Road he will meet the Vice President Hamid Ansari.The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement "India and Iraq have historically enjoyed close and friendly political, economic and cultural ties. Our robust bilateral trade amounted to nearly US$ 13 billion in 2016-17. Iraq contributes significantly to India's energy security and is the second-largest supplier of crude oil to us (over 37 MMT during 2016-17).
