Is Modi government taking revenge action against Anurag?

Mumbai: Politics has started on the Income Tax Department's raid on Bob Leewood actress Taapsee Pannu and film director Anurag Kashyap. This action of the Income Tax Department is being told by opposition leaders to target director Anurag Kashyap. In 2013 when the country was ruled by UPA under the leadership of Congress, Anurag Kashyap was badly trapped in the service tax case of 55 lakhs.

In the case of director Anurag Kashyap, opposition leaders have accused that the Income Tax Department has raided him due to his recent comments against the Modi government. Amidst these allegations, the 2013 case has again come into the limelight, on which the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also gave a statement that in 2013, there was a UPA government. During that time there were also raids of income tax, during that time no question was raised.

In 2013, the Deputy Commissioner of the Service Tax Department, Sameer Wankhede, campaigned for the payment of service tax by Bollywood celebrities. In the investigation of the deputy commissioner, a service tax of 55 lakh rupees was levied on director Anurag Kashyap, after which a case was registered against him. Anurag Kashyap's residence, his office, and other locations were raided together, after which he was called for questioning on 22 August 2013. When Anurag Kashyap did not come, his bank accounts were sealed. In the recent raids, a case of tax evasion of 350 crores is being made against Anurag Kashyap.
