Israeli Forces Eliminate 50 Palestinian Gunmen Near Gaza's Shifa Hospital

In a latest development, the Israeli military has disclosed that more than 50 Palestinian gunmen were killed in clashes near Gaza's Shifa hospital within the past day.

The Israeli army has declared its ongoing "precise operational activity" in the vicinity of Shifa hospital. According to military reports, the confrontations led to the elimination of over 50 terrorists, along with the discovery of terrorist infrastructure and weapons storage facilities. Since the commencement of the operation, around 140 terrorists have been neutralized in the area surrounding the hospital.

Simultaneously, Israeli diplomats have preemptively criticized the findings of two investigations into the involvement of the United Nations Palestinian refugee agency, UNRWA, in Gaza. These remarks coincide with the submission of interim findings by one of the inquiries to the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres.

UNRWA has faced significant scrutiny following accusations by Israel, alleging that 12 out of its 13,000 Gaza staff were implicated in the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7. Denying these allegations, the agency contends that no substantial evidence has been presented to substantiate the claims.

The UN Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) initiated an investigation on January 29 in response to the Israeli accusations. Concurrently, a broader assessment of UNRWA's activities and neutrality is underway, led by former French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna and supported by three Nordic research organizations.
