A fire broke out early on Dec. 31 at a historic wooden building in Istanbul's Beyolu district's Gümüşsuyu sector, causing damage, İhlas media reported. Although the building was supposed to have been abandoned by its owners some time ago, it was later discovered that two persons, believed to be homeless, were trapped in the flames. When the imprisoned couple's screams were heard from the burning house's windows, locals raced to help. When the flames approached where they were, they jumped out the window at the last possible time. While the injured two were treated in the Syriac Catholic Church close to the burning structure, it was stated that one of them, whose body was consumed in flames upon jumping off, was in critical condition. The Taksim First Aid Training and Research Hospital continues to treat the person whose identity has not yet been ascertained. Kim promises to strengthen N.Korea's military, maintain viral curbs.
