The burning Taliban-led government in Afghanistan has stated that reopening schools for females across the country is their duty, not that of the world's concern. On Thursday, Acting Minister Mouli Nurullah Munir made the statements during a meeting with Deborah Leon, the UN Secretary-Special General's Representative for Afghanistan. Girls have the right to education, according to Munir, and it is the Taliban government's responsibility to provide it. Taliban leaders have declared that public high schools for girls and public colleges for boys and girls will resume in March of the next academic year. Since the Taliban took over the country in August 2021, at least 150 public colleges for boys and girls, as well as all public high schools for girls, have been shut. Taliban Higher Education Minister Abdul Baqi Haqqani declared earlier this month that institutions around the nation will reopen to both male and female students, but that programmes for males and girls would be different. He did not, however, offer a reopening date.
