New Delhi: Jagdeep Dhankhar will take oath as the Vice President today (Thursday) at 12.30 pm. Earlier he reached Raj Ghat at 8.30 am and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. In this regard, Dhankhar gave the news by tweeting. In the afternoon, the swearing-in program will be organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Draupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office to Jagdeep Dhankhar as the Vice President. Let us tell you that in the recently held Vice Presidential elections, NDA's candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar won. He secured 528 votes and won. While the opposition candidate Margaret Alva got 182 votes. A total of 725 votes were cast in the Vice Presidential election. Of these, 710 votes were found valid. While 15 votes were received invalid. Jagdeep Dhankhar is going to be the 14th Vice President of the country. Earlier on Monday, 13th Vice President Venkaiah Naidu was given farewell in Parliament. Naidu's term ended on August 10. However, he had already quit due to holidays. Jagdeep Dhankhar hails from Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. He was the Governor of West Bengal before the Vice Presidential election. He resigned from the post of Governor after being made the NDA candidate. Dhankhar comes from a farmer family. His father Gokul Chandra Dhankhar used to do farming. Dhankhar is a lawyer by profession. Jagdeep Dhankhar started advocacy after taking a law degree and in the year 1990, he became a senior lawyer in Rajasthan High Court. Dhankhar has practised law from the Supreme Court to many High Courts of the country. By the year 1988, he had become one of the eminent advocates of the country.
