Jammu and Kashmir: Hearing on Article 35 A in Supreme Court today

New Delhi: the case of Article 35A of the controversial issues in Jammu and Kashmir, will hear in the Supreme Court of India today. In this case, the three judges committee headed by Chief Justice of India Deepak Mishra will pass the order today on Article 35A. Apart from this, an application has also been filed to avoid this hearing.

Worth mention here to avoid this hearing, the petition has been imposed by the government of Jammu and Kashmir. The state government has said that the Panchayat and local elections to be held in the state and in the wake of elections the hearing should be deferred. Therefore, the hearing will be avoided until these elections are affected.

It is must be noted that in the previous hearing, the Supreme Court had said that it will consider whether Article 35A does not violate the basic structure of the Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir. During the previous hearing, the Jammu and Kashmir government had demanded that the hearing of the matter should be postponed till December. But the Supreme Court did not show any interest in the state government's plea. Significantly, Article 35A has been included in the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, according to which the citizens living in the state have been given many privileges which has not been given to people of other states.
