Jammu: Police and BSF troops have foiled major infiltration conspiracies in Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir. Kupwara police along with 7 RR and 87 battalions of BSF have carried out the operation in Tangdhar area. As a result, several weapons, ammunition and drugs were seized, which the intruders abandoned and fled. Officials said the seized weapons include ak-47 rifle, one pistol, two grenades and six packets of heroin worth Rs 30 crore. Earlier on Wednesday, bsf had said that a Pakistani drug smuggler who was trying to infiltrate was killed near the international border in Kathua city of Jammu and Kashmir. According to bsf, bsf has seized 27 packets of heroin worth about Rs 135 crore in the international market due to search operation in the area. Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh had said on Monday that a "good number" of foreign terrorists are present in the Valley though they are not coming forward. The DGP said the strict ban on infiltration and approval of ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan have had a positive impact on the situation in the Valley. But it would be wrong to claim that there are no foreign terrorists here. One terrorist was killed in an encounter between security forces and dahashgards in Shopian district on Friday.
