Snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir halts, 5-inch snow on roads

Srinagar: Continuing snowfall in the last four days has wreaked havoc in Jammu and Kashmir. The condition of people has been badly affected due to cold. From the roads to the houses, a sheet of snow is visible. A thick layer of snow has accumulated on the vehicles. The work of cleaning the paths is going on loudly. Meanwhile, the administration has fixed the limit of petrol and diesel.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered rationing of automobiles and cooking fuel in the valley. Two-wheelers can take up to 3 litres of fuel, private cars can take 10 litres and commercial vehicles can take 20 litres. The LPG cylinder will be received by the customer only after 21 days after seeing the proper acknowledgement. The people of the valley are angry with the decision of the Jammu and Kashmir administration. A local resident said that on one hand, the administration is saying that they are fully prepared for winter and they have enough stock, and on the other hand consumers will have to wait for three weeks to get gas cylinders.

A local resident told, "I have heard for the first time regarding fuel rationing. The Srinagar-Jammu road will remain closed for a week. Does this (rationing) mean that they don't have stock for even a week?"
