The Union Sports Ministry has decided to rebuild Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The Ministry of Sports is going to spend up to Rs 8000 crore on it to change the design of this stadium so that this stadium will be made world-class. Regarding this, the Sports Ministry says that this stadium will be prepared in such a way that it can host Olympics and other big international sports competitions in future. The NITI Aayog has suggested to the Sports Ministry to redevelop the stadium. In addition, the Sports Ministry has recommended the formation of a five-member consultancy team, which will include a sports infrastructure management specialist. Apart from Delhi, the capital of the country, a world-class cricket stadium has been built at Motera in Ahmedabad, with other facilities to be added. 1The basketball court will be prepared with international level facilities. 2 Badminton courts will also be set up at JLN Stadium with international level facilities. 4 table tennis courts will also be prepared in this stadium. The 10-meter shooting academy will also be built at the JLN Stadium. A swimming pool with Olympic size facilities is also planned to be built. The 3/4/5 star hotel and service apartment will also be built in the stadium itself. Apart from the 2027 Asian Football Championships, India has expressed interest in hosting the 2026 Youth Olympics, 2030 Asian Games and 2032 Olympics.
