‘Not all those who wander are lost, this phrase describes Jayant Swami, the author who describes his career as ‘checkered’, and ‘cutting across finance and technology, training and teaching’. One wonders if a person with such a versatile background was bound to end up as an author! An IIM graduate turned author, Jayant Says ‘I consider myself a maverick. I don’t blindly conform to social recipes. I grapple with life on my own terms. I yearn for a world where all human-beings garner respect for just being human-beings, irrespective of man-made divides like class, status, power, you name it et al.’ Jayant is an explorer. He has dabbled in many pursuits- IMPROV, writing a Bollywood screenplay, moderating for film festivals, conducting personality development workshops, running book clubs, launching non-profit startups, acting in testimonial videos, he has done it all and enjoyed every moment of it. His life, he says, is like a novel, and he would know when he turns the page. He learned a lot of things at IIM Bangalore, his alma mater, and one of them was to explore newer avenues of success. This brings us to his newest passion- writing. Writing, he says, is a part of his genetic fabric. For him, every moment is a story. He believes that the power of imagination can bring even the most mundane activities to life. ‘Writing is therapeutic,’ he says, ‘for life has thrown more than my fair share of challenges at me!’ A keen observer and interpreter of human behavior, and a soft skills trainer, Jayant likes to channelize his passion for behavioral sciences into creating memorable characters. The characters of his works are real people, the kind we can relate to. He believes in the power of earthly character, the characters that make us feel we are one of them. His latest novel, ‘Family Secrets,’ is published by Vishwakarma Publications of Pune, and the cover has been designed by his literary agency- The Book Bakers. The novel is steadily garnering reader appreciation on Amazon and Goodreads ever since its release in October 2020. His debut novel ‘Colours in the Spectrum’ was released to rave reviews in 2013 by Leadstart Publishing. Family Secrets- Jayant’s latest novel In Family Secrets, Jayant has woven intricate pieces of human emotions to create a saga that is gripping and unputdownable, to say the least. This is the story of Abhimanyu, the illegitimate son and the heir of Vikramaditya fortune. Waking up to this reality in his mid-life, Siddhartha, the legitimate son, seeks justice. The plot is layered with many stories running parallely. The book challenges many stereotypes, and there is an endearing coming out story of Abhimanyu’s son that highlights the difficult relationship the society and families have with LGBTQ people. Family Secrets is a story of passion, compassion, revenge, emotions, and acceptance. If you have ever seen the ups and downs of life, you will be able to relate to it. Jayant has brilliantly put together stories within the main plot that challenges us to think beyond our comfort zones. Talking about future plans, Jayant says, ‘I am passionate about behavioral sciences. My next book, which is in the non-fiction genre, deals with personality development and is being represented by my literary agency, The Book Bakers. A management fable on transforming organizational culture is also on the cards. Later this year, I plan to return to my favorite genre, thriller-cum-drama fiction, with a contemporary story on the art of the con steeped in technological trends’.
