Jeep Compass Trailhawk SUV teased ahead of launch in India

Jeep Compass Trailhawk has been long due in the Indian market. There has always been an anticipation surrounding it ever since the Jeep Compass SUV was launched in India. This buzz only increased when Jeep confirmed Compass Trailhawk's arrival to India at the 2018 LA Auto Show. And now, the SUV maker has also teased the Jeep Compass Trailhawk on its India website. This teaser doesn't mention anything about the launch date of the Trailhawk, but it will most probably be somewhere in July 2019. All this excitement about the trail-rated version of the Compass is very understandable. After all, not all Jeep vehicles earn this badge. The trail-rated Jeep SUVS are designed to take over uncharted terrains and are adequately equipped, and so will be the Compass Trailhawk.

Let's start with its design. The Trailhawk will sport various design tweaks differentiate it from the regular Jeep Compass. These include new decals, black front grille, red tow hooks, 'Trail Rated' badge on the fender and even on the boot lid. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned to improve the approach and departure angles respectively. To make it an off-road worthy SUV, Jeep is also likely to increase Compass Trailhawk's ground clearance and of, course, it will get Jeep's Active Drive Low 4X4 system. For enhanced off-road capabilities, the SUV will also get hill descent control and hill hold control. The interior of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be finished in black along with some contrasting red highlights. The vehicle will get a 8.4-inch touchscreen with Jeep's Uconnect interface.

Powering the Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be the 2.0-litre diesel engine that puts 170.63 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. This engine, on the Trailhawk, will be offered in combination with a nine-speed automatic transmission, making Trailhawk the first iteration of Compass in India to get automatic transmission with diesel engine. When launched, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is likely to bear a price tag of  around ₹27 lakh - ₹28 lakh. At this price range, it will compare with the likes of Volkswagen Tiguan and probably the Skoda Karoq, which will come to India next year.
