Jeep has launched a petrol variant for its Wrangler Unlimited SUV and has priced it at Rs 56 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in the top-of-the-line model with one petrol engine and six color options. Further, likes its diesel sibling, this petrol model can be had with a hard top, soft top or no roof at all. In the case of the third option, the car comes without doors. Jeep began its innings in the country with a diesel-only model for the Wrangler but now in the face of increased demand, the American automaker has brought in the petrol variant. The engine comes paired with a five-speed automatic gearbox which powers all four wheels through the Command-Trac 4WD system, so rest assured, no matter what fuel type you choose, you’re still getting a true-blue off-roader. In fact, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited petrol is the most affordable model from the manufacturer currently. The fully imported off-roader draws power from a 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine tuned to produce 280 bhp of power at 6350 rpm and 247 Nm of torque at 4300 rpm. The motor comes paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive available as standard. As Jeep is building a niche in India with its Destination Stores, the company's next major launch will be the upcoming compass compact SUV. The Jeep Compass will be the first locally produced model from the automaker and will go on sale in the third quarter of the calendar year. The FCA plant will also export the Compass to international markets.
