A well-known star from her time on American Idol will be Jennifer Hudson's first appearance on her new talk show, which she is starting. Simon Cowell, a former American Idol judge, will sit down with the host of The Jennifer Hudson Show for their first interview since Hudson finished seventh in season 3 of the well-known singing competition. The interview will air on the show when it debuts later this month. After the disappointing result, which was shocking at the time, Hudson's career has taken off. She is one of the few performers to have earned an EGOT, taking home an Oscar for her work in Dreamgirls, two Grammys for the Color Purple soundtrack and her own self-titled album, a Daytime Emmy for her contribution to the VR experience Baba Yaga, and most recently a Tony for producing A Strange Loop. Cowell, meanwhile, quit American Idol in 2010 and began producing The X-Factor and America's Got Talent, among other reality competition programmes. The official description of The Jennifer Hudson Show says that it will feature "celebrity interviews, topical stories, community heroes, viral sensations, and music. Hudson will use her powerful voice in a new way, bringing fun, uplifting conversations to the forefront, shining a light on extraordinary stories, talents, and passions." We may presumably anticipate some musical performance from Hudson as well, given how successful Kelly Clarkson, another American Idol alum, has been at incorporating covers into her talk show. When The Jennifer Hudson Show debuts on Fox stations on September 12th, keep an eye out for that American Idol reunion.
