Gumla: Rape cases in Gumla district of Jharkhand are not going to stop. Many women in Gumla, who spoke on condition of anonymity, have said that they now feel unsafe to leave their homes. The latest case is that of a tribal woman resident of Sisai police station area. The woman's husband went to Andhra Pradesh to work as a labourer. The house has a 6-year-old son, a 2-year-old daughter with whom the woman lived alone. The victim has said that there is also a man named Baleshwar Sahu living in the village who used to call her husband and ask for a bike for essential work. Similarly, one day in February 2020, he took the bike for a single day and returned home at 11:00 p.m. The victim said, "He called my mobile on the pretext of delivering the bike. When I didn't pick up the phone, I came to my house and threatened, as soon as I opened the door, he put the pistol on me and shut my mouth.'' At the same time, he started threatening to kill the children. And then began to have forced physical relations which he recorded on the mobile camera. The victim said Baleshwar then started blackmailing her on the basis of the same video. Then, whenever he wanted, he would undress on a video call and do obscene things. Not only that, when the husband was at home, he asked her to give husband a sleeping pill. If she refused to do so, the accused would have made joke of her on the streets. One such day, her husband listened while talking on the phone. Now the victim has reached the court for justice. The victim has filed an application with the tribal police station seeking justice. Police station in-charge Suman has registered a FIR and asked for action.
